Purification of the second lens I have often been cleaned (= sterile filtered) demineralized water. Does anyone know up the coating dishwasher leaving white residue of a mirror in our telescopes can tle it? (There is no ansvarsforflygtigende in this, that no one be poor mood, damages or the like. Tempered if found not to comply) Nightsky

Your coating can withstand far more than you might expect. Water is no problem as long we talk washing. Now I do not know the coating on your mirror, but some coatings can tle scratching cases. Televue nvner acetone for cleaning the eyepieces. I think you have VRE worried about scratches.

Water is ingeniously with regard to scratching. One symbols does much less mechanical pvirkning to f of the dirt. In my professional life is the most indtrrede trees coming on the lenses, and they contain salt. Water is here absolutely brilliant, while plastering of salt crystals into the lenses and coating is not the most conducive to future visual experiences through the "cleaned optics". The coating on lenses (in telescopes) dishwasher leaving white residue is quite robust. But do not pse too much water on as it can trnge between the elements and ilngden under the coating. Cleaning the lens cloth / pen and grace is good. Saliva for more stubborn stains. Caution with the cloth tilrdes dishwasher leaving white residue After all, as any grit can scratch. Mirrors are nothing more flsomme scratch, but can gengld tle being washed in running water. Start with running water. If it is ndvendigt can then use distilled water plus a single drbe opvaskeiddel and pure cotton wool to clean the mirror. Let the mirror lying in the sink, and hld distilled water and washing-p Clean with cotton wool, but do not pressure the cotton wool down on the mirror - let it just "svve" across the surface. Then rinse well with running water, and finally rinsed dishwasher leaving white residue with distilled water (without dishwasher leaving white residue sbe). The mirror is made trre in a oblique angle (without being able to vlte or fall!). Demineralized water is generally considered not to VRE good enough, as this can cause stains when it trrer.

Thanks for the info. I was not sure how solid the reflective coating on our mirrors, but it can alts well tle water and detergent. I once ruined a lens by which water would flow into the putty elements, so the water should be applied with the way - I'm wholeheartedly agree with that. Jesper

Just a single drbe detergent in a pint of distilled water, or in the strrelsesorden. The other half liter can s used as a last rinse water. The aluminiumscoatingen on the mirror is extremely delicate needle, but today mirrors always dishwasher leaving white residue a fierce overcoat that helps a lot. However, this overcoat VRE made on the right way (supposedly a difficult process) and we know that users are not on it, so you must always be much more careful with mirrors than lenses.
