Decided one day to escape the little gray life in Sweden for a while. I like diving, and when I got an offer to train me to dive leader on a beating table top materials in the Philippines, and I additionally thanks to a sympathetic boss got a leave of absence for six months, so the matter table top materials was clear. I pulled on profit and loss, and rarely had I known what I was facing, and what I would experience. This is my diary of my life on a Banka in the Philippines.
I do not really table top materials know what to write about. I really have no words for it. What I've been through, I never want to experience again. I decide to stay away from the windows, when I see the first tree to fall on one of the houses, where I carefully looked out from the inside and from inside our kitchen and tried to light up a flashlight to see anything, but the only been seen up until then is enormous rainfall, and that signs and satellite dishes sway in the wind. The power is long gone, and you see something single candles in the windows of the simple sheds most prosperous fisherman living in the near shore. The strangest thing was when when you thought it was the worst, and everything suddenly table top materials stopped. The wind subsided to near zero in thirty seconds, it seemed no longer table top materials a drop of water from the pitch-black sky. Wacky Silent. The pounding table top materials suddenly at the door, the guy below us looking in with only his head, shouting "All ok?" And disappears just as quickly when he gets a gently nodding response. For a moment you wonder if it was all over, and we begin to gently talk to each other. We may suddenly understand that we actually are in the epicenter, it is called "eye of the storm", that in the midst of the typhoon as we understood on media reporting now will be one of the worst storms ever known. I myself table top materials am now the only one with a working connection, and the phone wanders between everyone who wants to hear from the relatives. I estimate that it will take five or ten minutes, and the storm picks up again, now with what seems like double intensity. We only hear the scream from the windows, and they bolted the doors shaking. And we understand table top materials Axa to the metallic bangs we hear the neighbors' roofs, table top materials walls, or anything that does not actually stuck. This lasts an hour, and all sitting on edge. One can not do anything. Just wait. Someone is trying to close your eyes and listen to music, another takes simply a hearty grog. You can not describe. When the firecrackers and scream table top materials outside begins to recede, we start simultaneously Axa understand what we probably face. We agree that for our own safety to wait a while longer when we ventured in, à us windows when sudden gusts of wind still tore with him lumber through the air. The sight that awaits us once we open the door is downright terrible. There is rubble table top materials everywhere. Almost all the trees around us has fallen, and the foliage is everywhere. Motorcycles are on the streets, many houses are destroyed around us and the whole house walls in braided wood is thrown up as playing cards at the houses that still have a roof left. It is eerily table top materials quiet. One sees the occasional flashlight pop up here and there, and many immediately starts searching through the houses, and those who can and dare to get out of their demolished houses, to seek protection from wind and what is still extreme precipitation. Someone from the neighboring house "wave" to us with a flashlight, and in light of the strong Diving lamps we have ourselves, we see that the whole family with children lie hidden under the bed, and the father with lamp asks for help hanging from the side of his house, which is now missing one of the walls entirely, and half the roof. On the way to rescue them stumble myself over the trees that were in our own backyard, all have fallen. table top materials We now understand that we must open our dive center, and they help us to safety, and trying to prioritize children, the elderly table top materials and mothers and injured. This turns out to go by itself, when men are already out and rescues those they can. We are hosting this night perhaps forty people, on makeshift beds of all the fabric we can find, the youngest an infant, three days old. We try found injured, crying in between the rubble of the house, but you will find thankfully no dead this night. Most people we encounter are only slightly injured, we will not take us so far on our return street, then drifts of rubble and fallen trees cut by us on the only road between the town, on the slope between the sea and land. Most are very mobile to safer places. Our building is one of the few with electricity, and once we start getting full so we try to ensure that there is hot water and drink. Some playing table top materials with the children who have not already fallen table top materials asleep. The hours have exhausted us properly, and we try to sleep a few hours shifts. table top materials When I wake up, the sun has gone up, and the sight that greets me is downright surreal. It's like a huge stage set, which can not be taken into. Half of the houses below us has plummeted. Nothing is damaged. Everything is solved overturned evicted. It is only rubble remains, of what was a simple, but beautiful community. table top materials Personally, I had not managed
